Musing Mondays – July 6, 2009
Rebecca at Just One More Page asks:
Who, if anyone usually accompanies you to the library? Is it somewhere you go alone? Or is it a regular outing with family or friends? Which do you prefer?
Usually, library visits for me are solo experiences. Sometimes I’ll amble through the stacks, picking up this or that book for a moment, but other times I’ll come in with laser focus, list in hand, to find my books and leave.
That is going to change after my son gets a few years older. Then I’ll start taking him to the library with me until he is old enough to go on his own. As it is now, he needs a little help to do his reading.

When I go to the library, I’m usually by myself too. My hubby will go and look at magazines from time to time, but that’s about it – he doesn’t even have a library card.

Sometimes I may get a book from the library that my wife will read as well – she’s reading “I Am The Messenger” now. Lucky for us that we can renew the loans online.

Yeah I usually go alone, although my bf has been keeping me company these last few times. He guards his card as if it’s a bloody visa. However! I own it! muahah!

Thanks for stopping by my place. Congrats on joining in on a reading challenge. You may find they are addictive! I did John’s Canadian Challenge this year. It’s really fun finding all the books you want. You asked me if I feel constrained being in all these reading Challenges. No not really, because there isn’t a reading cop standing next to me making me do them! LOL I am my own cop doing these challenges. And I love to read! I would probably just be reading my same old mysteries and romances on my own. This way I get to read some other stuff, I get to go outside my comfort zone. Have a great day!!

Thanks, Sherrie. You sound quite happy with the challenges, but I have a sense from some of the other blogs I’ve come across that some people take it on more as competition, which really strikes me as an odd way to approach reading.

I’m a soloist as well. When I had little ones I would take them with me. Our library has story hour and a summer reading program for kids. my Monday musings

Well it all depends when I go to the library. I use to go while my Michael was in school so that I could really look around but now that he is doing the summer reading program he is with me.

I actually dont do a whole lot of “Library”. I pick up my books at garage sales, book sales, Amazon…. when I do the Library for perhaps a book I need for book club that I dont feel I want to own, I go alone. Just me and the books. Thats what I am talking about.

Mike, I went and checked it out and grabbed it for a future post. This is so great! I would love to pick your brain about designing one for me… I would love to have a button that represents my blog but have no idea how to go about creating one. You know, like one that people could put on their sidebar as a link to me….
