I really wish I could get into reading Stephen King, but alas I never have been able to.

I have only read one book by Stephen King – “Lisey’s Story”
It took me a long time to get into it, but when I did, i kind of liked it.. not a lot, I am afraid.
I have not read many horror books, will wait for your review.

I’ve not read any of King’s recent books, although I will probably read his next one, “Under The Dome”, after it comes out in November.

I think Salem’s Lot is the only King I’ve read. Very creepy. Very good.

I’ve only ever read one King book and that was Insomnia. I liked it, but I’ve never felt compelled to read others. Just a little too creepy for me as well. I hope you are enjoying this one.

You may instead want to try King’s “The Eyes of the Dragon”, which is fantasy instead of horror, and I remember it as a good story as well.

I’ve read some King: The Stand, most notably, but never read Salem’s Lot. However, now I want to read it after that great tease. Like one of the other commenters, love the word “malefic.”

I don’t know if I could handle this book! Since having my kids I have become very sensitive to depictions of violence or harm happening to children.

Hi Michael! I can’t wait for your review on Salem’s Lot. I really love this book and, so far, most of the people I’ve recommended it to liked it as well.
Regarding the latest Salem’s Lot adaptation, it’s not as good as the first one, which came out in the 1980s. Although I’ve heard that the latest adaptation somehow stayed truer to the novel. I even think Stephen King gave it his blessing, which I find weird.
King’s later works (those which he wrote in the 1990s until today) don’t hold up to his earlier works. I guess that’s why I had a Stephen King phase during my high school years. Lately, his attempts to go “literary” somehow has affected the horror elements of his novels. I don’t know it it’s a good thing or not, but his more recent fiction don’t have the bite I’ve come to expect from him.
Oh well, here I go again. Rambling and ranting… My apologies.
